Biographies about Missionaries to Korea and early Korean Christians in the Society's Robyn Kintigh Missionary Library. I have assembled this library as a resource for you. Contact me to research any information you need from my titles. I will do my best to help!
Peter's Progress, the family history of the Peters' family written by Victor Wellington Peters (VWP) is the closest we have to an autobiography of Dr. Peters. Also in our collection is a short biography written in Korean by Park Myonggi.
Letters, diaries, other writings, artwork, pictures, books that reference VWP or Hahn Heung Bok, keepsakes, etc. round out the collection.
General history about the missionary effort in Korea prior to 1946. These are just some of the resources we will access when helping you with your research.
Histories, yearbooks and minutes written by representatives of various mission organizations.
I have denominational histories written by the Anglican Church in Korea, Australian Presbyterian, Methodist, Southern Methodist, Oriental Missionary Society, Northern Presbyterian, Southern Presbyterian, the Salvation Army and the United Church of Canada.
The Japan Christian Yearbook and all its iterations that in many years also listed missionaries to Korea.
I also have access to the rare 1943 Japan Christian Yearbook which lists all missionaries to Japan up to that time.
General histories about Korea the Christian movement in Korea.
Among the rarer items I have are a full scan of Bishop Ryang's 1930 history of the Southern Methodist mission in Korea.
Where I don't have originals I have found scans or scanned sources myself.
Items are not available to loan at this time. Please contact if you wish to access something from the library.
I welcome any donation of The Korea Mission Field. Currently the only issue in our library is the 1941 issue that features the Kimwha church.
I have also been looking to acquire a complete set of the KMF reprints done in the 1980s.
Joan Cho has graciously donated her issues of The Korea Klipper to jumpstart the collection. I welcome any donation of The Korea Klipper.
The Kimwha library has three issues of Pyeng Yang Foreign School's student newsletter, the Kum and Go. I welcome any donations of issues.
Yi Yong Do scholar and friend Chung Chaehun has graciously located and copied for research issues of Holy Fire (Seong Wha). Victor Wellington Peters and Marion Stokes were regular contributors.
I have five Methodist minutes from early the early 1900s. Four are from the Southern Methodists. I can also tell you where to locate other years. Many of these minutes are available in PDF form online.
